Voting Members

  • One graduate student appointed by the President, Campus Affairs Vice President (CAVP), or Vice President of Finance (VPF) of the Graduate Assembly (GA)
  • One undergraduate student appointed by the Associated Students of the University of California (ASUC)
  • One student with a background in environmental justice, selected by TGIF’s Committee after the other five members have been selected. This position is open to all undergraduate and graduate students via a student at-large application
  • One undergraduate student, selected by TGIF’s Committee after the other five members have been selected. This position is open to all undergraduate students via a student at-large application
  • One faculty member approved by the Academic Senate
  • One staff member from Administration, selected by the Vice Chancellor for Administration
  • One staff member from Capital Strategies, selected by the Director of Capital Strategies
Responsibilities of Voting Members:
Attend monthly committee meetings;

select which projects receive funding during grant review;

vote on issues which require committee approval, such as project adjustments; and

provide feedback to and help support all grantees.

ASUC Representative

Emma Centeno

Emma is a 4th year studying Natural Resource Management and Data Science. She is from Southern California and is the child of two teachers who inspired her passion for learning, teaching, and science. Emma strives to represent her Filipinx and QT+ communities in both her work and education. She is currently serving as the 10th consecutive ASUC Eco Senator, where she and her office is focusing on environmental justice issues. Emma is also a member of the Students of Color Environmental Collective and Berkeley Student Farms. For fun, Emma enjoys reading, foraging, cooking, and getting creative with journaling, painting, earring making, and more!

Jan Crosbie-Taylor

Jan joined UC Berkeley in 2018 as the Change Manager for a campus-wide computer system implementation. She is now an internal consultant and change facilitator located in the People & Culture. Jan has experience as a Zero Waste coordinator and a great interest in supporting changes related to sustainability and saving our planet. 

Capital Strategies Representative

Sara Noii

Sara is new to UC Berkeley and the Capital Projects team having started August 2022. In her previous role, Sara was a project manager for a general contractor and had been on many different types of construction projects throughout the Bay Area.  Sara was also fortunate to be given the opportunity to speak at the Lean Construction Institute (LCI) conference back in 2018.

 

Sara is a Bay Area native and completed her undergraduate studies at San Francisco State University in Civil Engineering. Sara enjoys playing soccer (both indoor and outdoor), and she loves being active. Sara also enjoys going to concerts and is a big foodie!

Temidayo Falade

Temidayo is a second-year graduate student at the Goldman School of Public Policy, studying for a degree in Development Practice. 

Temidayo is passionate about the intersection of Technology, Climate Change, and Agriculture. In his previous work experience, he has supported various Impact evaluation projects that support the evidence generation of various technology solutions in Nigeria. 

Temidayo is a Graduate Assembly Delegate, representing the Graduate Assembly and he sees the TGIF as an opportunity to support innovative ideas to further drive environmental justice. In his spare time, Temidayo enjoys playing the guitar and writing songs.

Ankita Morari

Ankita is a 4th year student studying Sustainable Environmental Design with a minor in Mechanical Engineering. She is incredibly passionate about bringing her interdisciplinary background of social studies and environmental justice into the fields of design and engineering to further the quality of environmental action being taken. Ankita is also an active Research Lead at the Sustainable Undergraduate Research Group on campus where she researches at the intersection of Overproduction/Overconsumption and Climate Change. She loves painting, reading, web+product design, running, getting ice cream, and watching movies!

Sharon Daraphonhdeth

Sharon was born and raised in San Diego county, where she began her educational endeavors at her local community college. She is a proud first generation college graduate and daughter of Lao refugees. Her passions lies among working with students, by assisting them to develop, implement and lead innovative sustainability projects and initiatives. Sharon served as the TGIF & Sustainability Initiatives Coordinator from 2014-2017, and has been serving as the SERC Director since March 2017. Prior to UC Berkeley, Sharon worked as the Sustainability Strategist for the Associated Students Inc. at San Francisco State University. At her leisure, she enjoys live music, cooking, and spending time with her loved ones (especially her cat, Lucille). She also serves as a board member for Food Empowerment Project, a vegan food justice organization. She holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from San Francisco State University, is a certified Zero Waste Community Associate, and holds a certificate in Fundraising and Volunteer Management from UC Berkeley Extension.

Office of Sustainability Director

Kira Stoll

Kira Stoll is the Chief Sustainability and Carbon Solutions Officer at UC Berkeley. Her work involves strategic advising on institutionalizing sustainable practices into campus administration and operations; developing cutting-edge carbon reduction, renewable energy, waste and water use reduction, and green building initiatives; and, producing long- and short-range sustainability plans and integrating those with campus physical planning efforts. Kira also coordinates with the academic community to integrate sustainability into the curriculum and focuses on fostering an inclusive culture of sustainability at Berkeley.

Bruce Chamberlain

Bruce Chamberlain’s career has focused on energy efficiency and leadership in public, private, and non-profit sectors. He is committed to bending the curve of carbon emissions in proven and creative ways. As Campus Energy Manager, Bruce has been involved with strategic planning efforts involving UCOP, Facilities Services, Sustainability, and Capital Projects. He manages development, funding, and implementation of energy and water efficiency projects throughout the UCB campus and guides monitoring and communication of campus-wide energy use to improve operational efficiency while providing a safe and comfortable environment for teaching, research, and public service.

Physical and Environmental Planning Representative

Shraddha Navalli Patil

Shraddha Navalli Patil joined the UC Berkeley Capital Strategies, Physical and Environmental Planning team in 2018. Architectural and urban heritage, campus design, and environmental planning form the center of her interests. She aspires to influence growth at the Berkeley campus by balancing vision, critical thinking and practicality. 

Shraddha completed her Ph.D. in the History of Architecture and Urbanism at the University of California, Berkeley, along with a designated emphasis in Global Metropolitan Studies. She has taught courses at UC Berkeley and University of San Francisco. She worked as an Environmental Planner in Southern California and in India as a researcher on environmental issues. In her free time, Shraddha loves to play board games with her family, travel and hike.
