TGIF Grant: $2,420

Project Theme: Education & Behavior Change

2012 Application Submission

Status: Complete; beginning summer 2014, this project was transitioned under SERC leadership as the SERC Film Series

Project Description: This grant will fund a monthly environmental documentary series that engages, educates, and inspires the Cal community to get involved with environmental campaigns. Films will be selected based on a monthly theme and followed by theme-centered discussion, facilitated by experts or related student groups.

Goals: Screen monthly environmental films for the Cal community. End each screening with a themed-discussion, facilitated by student environmental groups. Share films with Student Sustainability Resource Center (pending opening) and the Environmental Films Library in Moffit’s Film Library. Select films that create education and awareness towards UC Berkeley’s campus sustainability goals, such as “Zero Waste by 2020” and “Reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2014. Provide a fun, routine event where students outside of the environmental student group community will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with other students in the community.
